ScorpionExo is one of the top company when it comes to the manufacturing of Motorcycle Helmets. While producing somewhat the top quality helmets, they don’t make you pay a premium price for them. Therefore you can always be assured that you’ll get very good bang for bucks when shopping for Scorpion motorcycle helmets.
It has been a few years since the release of the Scorpion Exo 1000 helmet. Up till now, it is still selling pretty well, as it is still one of most feature rich helmet in the market. And compared with other brands with similar features, 300 dollars range of the Scorpion Exo 1000 is really a huge bargain, considering you might need to pay more than 500 or 600 dollars for similar feature helmets.
A very common question to ask is, has it lived up to its hype? With all the features and its price, many would have agreed that it has. Up till today, it is still one of the most feature rich helmet on the market. For a helmet that was released a few years ago, they are really leading the innovation in the helmet industry.
Build of the helmet
The Scorpion Exo 1000 is made of some advanced fiberglass / Kevlar matrix shell. They can provide really good protection against head injury. And you will have a peace of mind that the helmet is both Snell and DOT approved, which assure you that these series of helmets have gone through some extensive testing before they hit the market.
Exterior graphics
I must say, there are some really nice design for the Scorpion Exo 1000. The solid color version is available in a few colors such as glossy black, matte black and metallic silver. The finish fells really smooth and you won’t be able to scratch them easily. While the graphics version is available with blue or gold graphics, both with black base. For me, I’m not a fan of fancy graphics, but I really like the graphics for the Exo 1000. They seem quite suitable for street riding.
Comfort
There might be some criticism about the weight of this helmet. Weighing a bit over 4 pounds, it might be the heaviest helmet amongst non-modular helmets. But many riders who have used it over the time, commented that they did not feel much difference from other helmets.
This helmet also comes with KwikWick helmet liner and cheek pads. These liner and cheek pads are moisture-absorbent, which will help to keep your dry and cool. Aided with good airflow from the Aero-tuned ventilation system, you can be sure that you will enjoy your riding comfortably.
Also, if you feel that your helmet loosen up after wearing for more than a few months or even years, you don’t need to shop for a new helmet right away. Or if you just feel that you are going a bit faster this day, and needing a tighter helmet fit, the AirFit helmet inflation system can help. There is a helmet air pump that can inflate the cheek pad so that it will press into your cheeks for tighter fit. This is a really handy feature especially if your size sort of sit in between available sizes.
Faceshield and internal sun visor
The helmet features an anti-scratch no-fog faceshield, which is really important for any helmet, as you need to have a clear vision for safety reason. The faceshield of the Scorpion Exo 1000 is really well made, it is actually not easy to fog it up even when not moving.
The internal sun visor is one of the coolest feature of Scorpion helmets. It is retractable, you can pull it up when it is not needed probably at night time. When you need it for sunny day riding, you just drop it down. It is conveniently operated with just a single tab, and you can do it with any gloves on.
As far as the feature goes, the Scorpion Exo 1000 has got almost everything you can find in any helmets. While sitting at the 300 dollars price range, you really can’t get any better than this.
